Today on Instgram, myself and some other moms will be sharing some fun Valentine’s Day baking! I decided to make heart shaped pop tarts! To be honest they were pretty easy to make and they turned out SO good!
Ingredients:
- Flour to just put on your counter top while you roll out your pie crust
- Pie crust ( 2)
- Powdered sugar
- half and half
- strawberry jam
- vanilla extract
- spinkles
- Pink food dye
Directions:
- First always remember to let your pie crust get to room temperature before you try to unroll it.
- Roll out the pie crust a little bit so it is not so thick.
3. Cut out as many hearts as you want with your heart cookie cutter!
4. Lay a set of hearts down on your baking sheet and scoop a little bit of jam on it.
5. Next take the other set of hearts and lay on top of the jam. Take a fork and press down the edges. Make sure you press firmly to try and prevent a lot of the jam from oozing out.
6. Bake at 350 for about 14 minutes. Some jam will ooze out- but that is ok, it is easy to peel off.
7. Let the hearts cool for a bit. While it is cooling you can make the icing.
8. In a mixing bowl- mix- 1 cup of powdered sugar with about 3-4 tablespoons of half and half ( the more half and half you add the thinner it will be), and 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract. If you want a pink icing add 1-2 drops of food coloring!
9. Once the pop tarts are cool spread on top, sprinkle with sprinkles and enjoy!
